Woody the Woodchuck is Michigan’s official groundhog and both made their predictions today.

Punxsutawney Phil is undeniably the most famous weather predicting creature, but at $450 for a hotel room just to see Phil? That's crazy.

Here in Michigan, however, we have Woody the not so famous woodchuck. Woody resides at the Howell Nature Center and follows slightly different rules from Phil for making her prediction. If Woody emerges from her house and stays out for 30 seconds or longer, she didn't see her shadow and is indicating an early spring. If she doesn’t come out at all or runs back into her house before the 30 seconds are up, she is forecasting six more weeks of winter. They also say that Woody is more accurate then Phil with accurate predictions in 14 of the last 18 winters.

So the results are in. Phil saw his shadow which means he is predicting 6 more weeks of winter.

Woody made her prediction almost an hour later because of the time difference in the sunrise. Woody refused to leave her stump so she also predicted another 6 weeks.

So what do you think? Can they really predict the weather? only time will tell.
