The 2018 regional Eat Safe Fish Guides were released May 1 by the MDHHS. The guide says that from the Morrow Dam in Kalamazoo County to the Allegan Dam in Allegan County, every fish caught in the Kalamazoo River is listed as "Do Not Eat" due to PCBs in the fish. According to the MDHHS, eating even one meal of Bluegill, Carp, Rock Bass or any other fish from parts of the Kalamazoo River could result in health problems.

A new Facebook group is pushing for answers to rising health concerns in the Allegan County city of Otsego.

A package of bills introduced in the Michigan House Tuesday and co-sponsored by Battle Creek representative Dr. John Bizon would relax some hunting regulations. The primary sponsor for the bills is Rep. Steve Johnson from Allegan County.

A 36-year-old Jackson County man was arraigned Monday and could face more charges following a Halloween break-in spree in Kalamazoo County.

The 26-year-old had been wanted in Jackson County, and was believed to have been in Kalamazoo County’s Comstock Township Tuesday afternoon. He was first tracked down to the 5000 block of Savannah Ave, but evaded capture and allegedly broke into three homes in that area, stealing various items, before stealing a car and speeding off.

Battle Creek authorities thought they had located the car that had fallen into the Kalamazoo River over the weekend, but as they worked to recover it Monday, they realized it must have moved.
