Another first for me, two races in one day and a half-marathon at night!

June has been a busy month!

After a 5-hour adventure race in Silver Lake on the 6th, I signed up for 2 events on the 13th; the Kalamazoo Mud Run and a half-marathon in South Haven.

(Yes, I took a nap in between.)

The mud run started at 8:30 a.m. and at 9 p.m. a bunch of us gathered at the Kal-Haven Trailhead in South Haven for my first night race.

A simple out and back course, it was impossible to get lost but it sure was hard to find the way once it got dark! Most runners had a headlamp and I'm not sure how those without one made it back.

Alone for most of the race, in the dark, at night, it was almost eerie at times but an experience that I truly enjoyed; I'll do another one for sure.

Oh yeah, by the way, a personal best night race half-marathon time for this guy!
