The foundation of Avon was set back in 1886 by a man named David H. McConnell who was a door to door salesmen that used perfume samples as a way to get in the door to make a sales pitch. When he realized the women wanted the samples more then his brushes, he opened a store, a small 20x25 ft. building in New York with the name California Perfume Company. According to Sheri who works at the store owned by her sister Julie Carlson. Avon has spread all over the world with a universal appeal and as a recognizable household name.

"Many of the local sales reps even use the store", Sheri said, "When they have a client that wants a product right away, they can come in and pick it up and take it right to the customers door."
