Before you know it, Halloween week will be upon us.  There's so much more to do in Kalamazoo than costume contests!  Don't believe me?  Check it out!

1. Pick Out a Pumpkin from Gene the Pumpkin Man!

Nothing says Halloween like picking out pumpkins from Gene the Pumpkin Man!  Located just off of M-43, Gene's place is your one-stop-shop for all things pumpkin!  Don't let Gene fool you, he isn't a one-trick pony.  He also offers assorted gourds, root vegetables, and honey; in fact, he sells honey all year round!  So find yourself a savory vegetable stew recipe, grab all your ingredients from Gene, and carve your pumpkins while you're waiting for your slow cooker to bring forth Autumn's Bounty.

2. Stock up on Apple Cider at Gull Meadow Farms!

Okay, so your pumpkins have been carved, your belly full of fall's goodness.  What's next on the 5 Ways to Get Ready for Halloween in Kalamazoo?  I'm glad you asked! It's cider from Gull Meadow Farms, of course! Nothing warms you to your core (get it, core?) like a nice hot cup of cider!  Stop at their store for cider, caramel apples, pies, and so much more!  While you're there, get lost in the corn maze and take your best shot with the Apple Cannons.  Trust me... they're fun...

3. All Aboard for ZooBoo!

Binder Park Zoo always has something going on for Halloween, with some wonderfully family-friendly, spooky surprises! From October 19-30, hop on their Hay Ride, ZooBoo Express, or Binda Conservation Carousel!  Plus, come in candy and trick-or-treat by day, and enjoy entertainment by night.

4. Join the Jack-O'-Lantern 5k & 10k Trail Run!

Halloween in Kalamazoo wouldn't be complete without a run, and the Jack-O'_lantern 5K/10K Trail Run is the epitome of fall fun runs! Kids 12 and under can get in the action, too, by participating in the Kids' Pumpkin Patch Trick-or-Treat Fun Run! Enjoy the colors of autumn while running through Bishops Bog Preserve and Eliason Nature Reserve. Space is limited, so make sure you preregister.  Click here for details!

5. Murder Mystery Dinner at W.K. Kellogg Manor House

Thrills! Chills! Cocktails! Get a sitter October 28th and treat yourself to a deliciously devious night out! Enjoy a gourmet meal, complete with specialty cocktail menu and Death by Chocolate for dessert, while trying to solve most insidious plot!  This Murder Mystery Dinner is for adults only. If you're tired of the same old Halloween parties, shake it up and enjoy a spooktacular night out.

It's never to early to plan your fall fun! Make your reservations or register for events now, before they fill up!
