While the Morrises lived next to the cemetery in the vanished village of Charleston, which sat on the county line between Van Buren and Cass counties,  they were buried 5 miles away in the Anderson Cemetery. But why?

After writing about Charleston, the Morris murders and what is believed to be the reason the town was abandoned, I learned that the Morris's were not buried in the Charleston cemetery that was across the street from where they lived. Instead, they were buried at the Anderson cemetery. According to the legend,

It is said that if u go to the grave yard on this date the 29th of Sept, you can see Ester and Charles Morris, by there tombstone which is the only pillar stone under the only ever green trees in the center of the grave yard.

Sounds like it's time for a late night road trip.
