Sneak Peek: The Fire Hub Opens Wednesday in Battle Creek
Buzz around Battle Creek's latest community collaboration has been active since an announcement last spring. Now, Battle Creek's former Fire Station Number 4 is about to become the centerpiece of that collaboration.
The Fire Hub restaurant and food pantry, a brainstorm of FireKeepers Casino vice president Michael McFarlen, will open its doors Wednesday, April 19 with a ribbon cutting and grand opening event.
The Fire Hub's artisan bakery concept boasts thin crust pizza in 90 seconds, fresh pastries and baked goods, sandwiches and salads made fresh. It's food pantry hub will support the Food Bank of South Central Michigan, including overflow food from casino restaurants and catering. A nearby garden - to be unveiled soon - will support school lunch programs at no cost.
