Nashville-based singer-songwriter Rick Monroe is premiering his new song “Rage On” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

Monroe wrote “Rage On” about those frenetic few moments before a show begins. The artist is a veteran of the road: He's played shows in 17 countries across the globe.

“This was written in the middle of my last big tour. We wanted to describe that moment, just before the show starts, when there’s a lot of anticipation in the air,” Monroe tells The Boot. “The lights are down, the venue is dark, and the crowd is restless. Then the lights go up, and all hell breaks loose … in a good way … and you ‘rage on through the night."

“Rage On” will appear on Monroe’s forthcoming EP, titled Gypsy Soul. The record also includes Monroe’s latest single, “This Side of You,” which is currently working its way up the MusicRow charts. Throughout his career, Monroe has shared the stage with some of country’s finest artists, including Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Patty Loveless and Dwight Yoakam.

The Gypsy Soul EP is set for release on May 12. Fans can learn more about the disc, and Monroe, on his official website.
