I love being on the stage, if only for a few minutes at a time.

People ask me all the time, "Do you play guitar?"

I tell 'em, "The only thing I can play is the radio."

That's why I love music so much and the music at Kalamazoo Ribfest is always a highlight of the weekend for me.

The 2015 lineup includes headliners Craig Morgan and Chase Bryant with Michigan favorites Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys and Dani Jamerson--and that's just the Country bands!

Last year I got the chance to get on stage and introduce Country music legends Shenandoah. I've got to tell you, being on stage is totally different than standing behind a microphone is a small room all by yourself. The energy of a live crowd is incredible and Shenandoah multiplied that exponentially when they started to play as I read the prepared copy.

"This band has been one of the true trendsetters in Country Music. They are celebrating their 25th year in the music business." As I finished this first line, the guitars began to play softly. The music intensified as I continued. "Their unique sound has earned them Grammy awards, 13 number one records, 4 gold albums and countless CMA and ACM awards."

At this point the crowd is beginning to gain enthusiasm and I feel like I am a part of the band as we head for the big finish (start).

"Please make welcome...the Academy of Country Music's Vocal Group of the Year...from Muscle Shoals, Alabama...the Grammy-award winning band...SHENANDOAH!

The last line was accompanied by the roar of the Ribfest crowd and the snap of a snare as the band kicked into their opening song.

I know, I'm lucky, I have a great job.

Come on down this year and I'll get on stage an introduce you to more of my friends who know how to play more than the radio.
