Davis' forthcoming new album, The Way Back Home, "tells the story of difficult lessons learned, paths chosen and a destination that continues to evolve,” the artist says. The project is due out on Oct. 13 and was produced by Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin; it’s Davis’ first studio album since his appearance on The Voice Season 8 in 2015.

A native of Detroit, Mich., Davis has released three solo albums, as well as five records with the band Steppin’ In It and a record of jazz standards with another group. His time on The Voice began with an unexpected phone call from the show’s producers, who requested that he audition; initially, Davis said no, but his wife helped convince him to do it. Recruited for Adam Levine’s team, Davis placed third to Season 8 runner-up Meghan Linsey and winner Sawyer Fredericks.
