Texas country artist Josh Ward is premiering his song "Home Away From Home" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

A perfect fit for the Texas honky-tonk scene, "Home Away From Home" continues a classic country tradition: It's a song that sounds even better when you're drinking.

"This song is fun -- a classic beer-joint anthem," Ward tells The Boot. "You can almost hear the beer bottle clinking in the background."

Ward says that his favorite line of "Home Away From Home" — "Even down the road at the place I get my mail / The beer ain’t half as cold" — is a nod to finding a home in your favorite bar.

"Everybody needs a watering hole to go to. This song is about your favorite place to go, relax and have a couple," he says. "The sound is very country. I love the swagger of this song.”

Fans of the Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen and Aaron Watson will find a lot to like in Ward's honky-tonk tunes. In his home state, the artist has already scored nine consecutive No. 1 singles on the Texas Regional Radio Charts, and now he's poised to make a play for the national stage.

"Home Away From Home" appears on Ward's forthcoming album, More Than I Deserve, set for release on May 4. Visit JoshWardMusic.com for more details.
