Harding’s on Howard to Close
With 26 locations in Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan, there will be one less Harding's by the end of the month.
Melvin R. Harding opened the very first Harding's Friendly Market in 1944 in Parchment, Michigan. No customer left the store carrying their own groceries as the Harding's philosophy was (and is) "Harding's customers deserve the best service possible provided by friendly employees."
About 60 of those friendly employees will be looking for work as the Harding's Friendly Market at 412 Howard St. is set to close by the end of the month.
No other stores appear to be affected at this time as cashiers, stockers and other workers are encouraged to apply at other locations.
A developer has already purchased the location and has plans for the site, according to MLive Business Writer Al Jones.
What do you think Kalamazoo needs in that neighborhood?
