Um So That’s What Happens After Fish Leave a Michigan Fish Hatchery? [VIDEO]
There are fish hatcheries all across Michigan, including the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery off M-43 between Kalamazoo and Bangor. So how exactly do those hatched fish get into the state's waterways? If you've never seen the process you might be very surprised.
This video shared recently by MLive.com shows fish, in this case trout, being shot out of a truck from a bridge and waterfalling into Glen Lake in Leelenau County.
So what's the process?
a truck hauling young trout from a hatchery and hurtling them into the water. There are nine species of fish that are placed annually, some of the fingerlings can be as young as one month while others are raised for more than a year to better prepare them for life outside of the hatchery.
