It’s a milestone year for Faith Hill. The singer turns 50 in September, but it doesn’t faze her. She feels that if she stresses about it, it’ll send the wrong message to her daughters.

Hill tells NewBeauty she simply doesn’t pay attention to aging, and she embraces wrinkles. "The secret is being confident — with your age, with yourself," Hill says "Life is so precious. We only have one, what’s the point of stressing about all of that?"

While a more natural look is what she’s most comfortable with these days (Bonus: it’s also her husband Tim McGraw’s favorite), Hill admits she used to glam-out. Looking back, some of the results ... well, they weren’t great.

"I did the high school perm," she recalls, "And I used to wear tons of makeup, like that ’80s caked-on makeup. It’s the reason I rarely wear it now unless I absolutely have to."

For Hill, beauty is more holistic these days. She stresses being happy first, because your skin will become naturally rosier and your eyes brighter. "I'm okay with having lines," she says. "I'm almost 50, I want people to know I've smiled a lot."

Look for Hill to be smiling plenty in 2017. In addition to the Soul2Soul Tour with McGraw, she's planning a joint album with her husband of 20 years. The first single, "Speak to a Girl," is expected on Thursday (March 23), and they'll perform it at the 2017 ACM Awards in Las Vegas.
