Battle Creek Man Arraigned In Theft Of Child’s Tombstone
Arraignment took place yesterday for a Battle Creek man accused of stealing a child’s headstone.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that 31-year-old Wesley Carter is charged with receiving and concealing stolen property; at the same time, he was arraigned on meth making and dealing charges, along with a felony firearm count. On August 17, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office discovered the tombstone of 2-year-old Kevin Fisher from 1988 buried in Carter’s backyard, as they were executing a search warrant related to the drug charges.
It’s believed that the tombstone had been stolen from Barry County, in order to be used for a relative of Carter. It’s unclear if the monument will be returned to its graveyard.
