The Detroit Tigers spent a lot of Tuesday night’s game with Baltimore, trying to put the 3rd inning behind them. The Orioles sent 11 men to the plate in the 3rd, scoring 7 on as many hits and knocking Matthew Boyd out of the game early. Tiger hitters were ready to answer in the bottom of the 3rd. Miguel Cabrera drew a walk to start the inning, and Victor Martinez hit a home run to left, scoring two. J.D. Martinez would tack on another run with a home run to right, and the Tigers trailed 7-4.

In the 7th , Baltimore reliever Mychal Givens  started the inning by walking three. The Orioles brought in closer Brad Brach early, but that wouldn’t slow down J.D. Martinez who hit a grand slam home run to give the Tigers the 8-7 lead.  But the Orioles' Mark Trumbo hit  a two out home run in the 9th off Justin Wilson to send the game to extra innings.  The game would stay tied until the 12th, when Baltimore would score three off  Blaine Hardy.

Tiger hitters would answer the call once more. A combination of a double and four singles would score McCann, Kinsler and Romine, tying the game at 11. Baltimore would answer with a double and a home run in the top of the 13th  off Francisco Rodriguez.

Matt Boyd pitched  2 1/3 innings, and gave up 7 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks.
