There's nothing better than a good vintage find. Except finding one on August 17th when you could save even more.

National Thrift Store Day isn't something we hear about very often but just like Christmas, it comes once a year and everyone should be excited.

I contacted both the Goodwill and Salvation Army for details about this year's event. They were very tight lipped and wouldn't reveal any details about what was planned. All I was given is that they will post the info on their websites and Facebook on that day. In years past, however, they have offered up to 50% off the tagged price.

There are also several other smaller thrift stores located around Southwest Michigan where you can shop as well.

Second Impressions - 3750 S Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49008

Nuway Thrift Store -  211 East Cork Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001

St. Lukes Thrift Shop - 432 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007

Habitat for Humanity ReStore - 7612 S Westnedge Ave, Portage, MI 49002

There are much more that can be found with a quick search. The upside is that with most of these shops, the proceeds benefit the community.
