As MLive reported, plenty of records fell in the Western victory. In addition to being the longest game in conference history, the game tied the longest game in college football history. It was also the longest game in major college football in 11 years. The combined score is the highest in Football Bowl Subdivision history and Buffalo's 68 points were the highest losing score in football history.

For trivia buffs, Jarvion Franklin scored the winning touchdown.
