Winter Storm Warning for Kalamazoo
Freezing rain, ice and sleet to make roads hazardous as the final Winter storm of 2015 impacts Southwest Michigan.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, December 29.
Travel will become very hazardous if not impossible this afternoon as heavy sleet and freezing rain move in. widespread power outages could occur later today and tonight due to the combination of icing on power lines and winds gusting as high as 50 m.p.h.
Freezing rain is expected to last late into Monday evening before temperatures rise above freezing.
One to three tenths of an inch of ice accumulation is expected. Add 20-30 m.p.h. winds with gusts up to 50 m.p.h. and the risk of downed trees and power lines increases dramatically. Power outages may result from downed wires and secondary roads may be impassable due to fallen trees.
