William Michael Morgan and Jennifer Wayne from Runaway June have ended their engagement after less than four months.

The couple announced their engagement in a romantic post to social media on Dec. 28, 2016, and they have since given interviews in which they gushed about their romance. But Wayne turned to social media again on Friday (April 7) to share with her fans that the couple have called off their nuptials.

"William and I have called off our engagement. We came to the mutual agreement that this is what’s best for both of us right now," the Runaway June singer tweeted Friday afternoon, adding, "Thank you for your support and respecting our privacy during this time."

The Most Shocking Splits in Country Music

23-year-old Morgan helped to revive traditional country at country radio with his debut single, “I Met a Girl,” which hit No. 1 in 2016. He released his debut album, Vinyl, later in the year, followed by his sophomore single, “Missing.” Morgan has a daughter from a previous relationship, Presley, who was born in March of 2016.

Wayne is a member of the country trio Runaway June, whose debut single, “Lipstick,” has made quite an impact at country radio. Taste of Country named Runaway June as one of our RISERS in 2017. Wayne was previously best-known as a songwriter who collaborated with Eric Paslay on his hit, “She Don’t Love You.” She’s also the granddaughter of legendary Western star John Wayne, and before she began to actively pursue songwriting in Nashville, she was a tennis pro and competed on television's Amazing Race.
