It's a big weekend in my hometown of Holland with the Tulip Festival this weekend.

One of the largest in the nation, thousands of people head to Holland, Michigan for Tulip Time and a look at the color, costumes and culture of the Netherlands.

Wooden shoes, street scrubbing, parades and klompen dancing are all part of the festivities.

I made a quick trip to be a part of the world record attempt to assemble the largest number of people simultaneously dancing in wooden shoes.

SPOILER ALERT: We failed.

Plenty of fun was had by all regardless, as you can tell by the photos.

One highlight was Sylvia Tanis, who was not only dancing, she was also celebrating her 90th birthday which happens on May 9.

As it turns out, we are related as Sylvis's husband and my grandpa K. were cousins.

You never know what you are going to find out when you go back home.
