Toby Keith fans, beware: An online scammer has been approaching fans with a fan club offer that’s a little too good to be true.

On Friday (April 28), Keith's team posted a warning to fans on the "Beer for My Horses" singer's social media accounts after an online scammer attempted to steal cash from unassuming Keith enthusiasts. "An individual or individuals" has been contacting fans to ask for money to join a new fan club -- a fake fan club, that is.

“Please note, Toby will never contact you personally to ask for money or otherwise,” reads the statement from Keith's team. “This is the only legitimate Toby Keith profile, and all fan club events will only be announced here and at TobyKeith.com.”

It is unclear whether or not the scammer succeeded in taking money from any of the contacted fans, though in the comments on Keith's team's posts, some fans reported receiving friend requests from a fake Toby Keith profile.

Keith last released a single, "A Few More Cowboys," in the summer of 2016. It's from a yet-to-be-released project, though no details about that album have been announced.
