The Tiger bats went silent on Monday night in Houston, as they lost 1-0 to the team with the best record in the majors.

Michael Fulmer (5-2)  started and pitched well for the Tigers, scattering 8 hits over 7 innings and striking out four.  The Astros scored the only run of the game in the first inning.

George Springer walked and scoring on Jose Altuve’s double down the third base line.

Brad Peacock came out of the bullpen to start for the Astros in place of  injured ace Dallas Keuchel.  Peacock allowed the only Tiger hit of the game and struck out eight in 4 1/3 innings.  The Tigers did nothing at all against three relievers.

Detroit's only hit was a single by Mikie Mahtook with one out in the third.

The Tigers drop to three games back in the Central Division.  Game 2 of the series and 11 game road trip will be in Houston tonight.  Jordan Zimmerman  will start for the Tigers.  Hear the game at 7:45pm on 95.3 WBCK.
