Country-folk quartet the Novel Ideas are preparing to release a new album in September, and they're giving The Boot's readers the first listen to its lead single. Press play below to hear "I'll Try."

A harmony- and steel guitar-heavy track, "I'll Try" is, the Novel Ideas tell The Boot, about the feelings that come along with being a working, traveling musician. "I'll try / To pick up my life / To pick up my life," the chorus promises.

"On those days where you wake up and ask yourself why you’ve chosen to do something that takes so much of you and is so closely tied to your identity, it’s good to remember that all you have to do is keep trying," the Novel Ideas say. "Some days you try and feel like a failure, and some days you feel like you’re doing something worthwhile; on those days, picking yourself up feels like picking up your whole life and carrying it with you.”

Vocalist Sarah Grella, guitarist / pedal steel player / vocalist Danny Hoshino, bassist / vocalist James Parkington and guitarist / vocalist Daniel Radin make up the Massachusetts-bred Novel Ideas. Hoshino and Radin, friends and collaborators since middle school, formed the beginnings of the quartet in 2011, together recording the band's 2012 project Home; Grella and Parkington joined the group in 2012.

The Novel Ideas, the Novel Ideas' self-titled upcoming album, is due out on Sept. 8; it was produced by Rick Parker and mixed by Ryan Freeland. Visit TheNovelIdeas.com to learn more about the project, the band and their upcoming tour dates.
