Sundance Head Proves His Faith With ‘My Church’ on ‘The Voice’
Sundance Head's guitar-heavy version of Maren Morris' "My Church" featured a three-voice choir and The Voice coach Blake Shelton struggling to find the words to summarize it all.
"Vocally, I would put you up against anybody in the world," Shelton told Head on Monday (Nov. 14). It doesn't take much creativity to see why. The self-proclaimed founder of soul country opens up almost from the very first note. It's as much vocal performance as it is emotional exorcism — Head sings it like he wrote it.
The 37-year-old from Texas is striving to make the Top 11. Viewer votes will ultimately decide that, with results being revealed during Tuesday night's results show on NBC. Billy Gilman is another singer with country roots on this latest season of the Voice. Gilman is on Team Adam, and he too gave a masterful performance on Monday night.
While Gilman has previous record label success on his resume, Head has reality television show experience. He made the Top 16 on American Idol in 2007, but admits he squandered that opportunity. Since then he has cut songs that were never released on Universal Motown and worked in a machine shop.
Previous performances by Head include a cover of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" and Keith Urban's "Blue Ain't Your Color." After the show he took to Twitter to encourage fans to vote.
