Scotty McCreery’s ‘This Is It’ Turns Engagement Tale Into New Single [LISTEN]
Scotty McCreery isn't shy about getting personal in his new single, "This Is It." The song, from his upcoming album, Seasons Change, is about his engagement to his soon-to-be-wife, Gabi Dugal.
Co written by McCreery, Frank Rogers and Aaron Eshuis, "This Is It" came to be shortly before McCreery proposed to Dugal near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina in September; he mentions their pre-proposal hike in the song's first verse when he sings "Way up in the mountains / Four thousand feet high / There's a trail through the trees to a cliff / Where Carolina meets the sky ..."
"This is it, this is now / This is what I've been talking about / Looking out, can't you see forever?" McCreery sings in the chorus of "This Is It." "You take my hand, just take it in / This is a moment we won't forget / On top of the world, here together / If there ever was a time for a perfect kiss / This is it."
Both from Garner, N.C., McCreery and Dugal have known each other since kindergarten and began dating during their senior year of high school. They plan to get married sometime in 2018.
"It’s a team effort so far," McCreery tells The Boot of wedding planning. "She’s a nurse, working at Duke Hospital. When she’s working, I’ll pick up a little bit, and when I’m out on the road, she’ll help out a little bit ... Engaged life is great. I’m really happy."
Seasons Change is due out on March 16.
