New TV Show Starring Reba McEntire Begins Filming
The new "Southern Gothic soap opera" starring Reba McEntire and written and executive produced by Marc Cherry has begun filming. On social media, fans have been sharing photos of McEntire on set in Madison, Ga.
The new TV drama is still unnamed, but its plot centers around Ruby Adair (McEntire), the sheriff of the small town of Oxblood, Ky., and a young FBI agent of Middle Eastern descent, who is described as “cocky." The FBI agent is in Oxblood to help Adair solve a horrific crime after a “suspected act of terrorism” happens at a Fourth of July parade, and they form an “uneasy alliance” as Adair introduces the agent to “bizarre characters” in the community, uncovering even darker secrets.
Photos from the set of the new show show McEntire in a sheriff's uniform, during that aforementioned Fourth of July parade. In one photo, the country icon is standing near a convertible, while another shows her near a tractor stacked with hay.
News of the new TV show first broke in December; at that time, it was reported that the drama was in development, and that ABC had secured a script-plus-penalty commitment. In January, it was reported that ABC had officially ordered the show's pilot episode.
In addition to writer and executive producer Cherry, his longtime producing partner Sabrina Wind will help helm the drama, while Mindy Schultheis and Michael Hanel from Acme Productions will be executive producers. McEntire will be credited as an executive producer as well.
McEntire will head from Georgia to Las Vegas, Nev., this Sunday (April 2), for the 2017 ACM Awards. She's scheduled to perform her newest single, "Back to God," during the awards show, with contemporary Christian artist Lauren Daigle.
