Portage, Michigan teen, Alyssa Elsman was struck and killed by a speeding car in New York City on May 18th 2017. Her younger sister was taken to the hospital and her condition is unknown.

According to Everpedia's webpage on Alyssa, was killed and her sister injured along with 18 other pedestrians on New York's 45th street. The page continues with,

The siblings were struck on the sidewalk between West 42nd and 43rd streets. Elsman was pronounced dead at the scene and her younger sister was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

They were struck by 26 year old, Ex-military Richard Rojas, who was under the influence of Marijuana when he made a U-turn on to a sidewalk. The link to Rojas reads,

The car then drove up the sidewalk for three and a half blocks, striking the 23 victims before crashing into a stanchion near the corner of 45th Street and Broadway.

The page continues on saying he attempted to flee and had previously had two DUI arrests and his license had been suspended several times.
