Philip Seymour Hoffman is dead. The Oscar-winning actor was found in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday (Feb. 2), ScreenCrush reports. He was 46 years old.
A true pioneer in modern cinema, Hoffman appeared in films like ‘Moneyball,’ ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ and 'The Big Lebowski' in his 20-year career. According to ScreenCrush, the esteemed actor was working on the ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1′ and ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2′ at the time of his death.
Hoffman is said to have died of a drug overdose, having been found by New York police in his apartment bathroom with a needle in his arm. He checked into a rehab facility last year for alcohol abuse.
