It's a good time to be a Michael Ray fan: Listeners have been enjoying quite a bit of new music from the country star of late, including the optimistic "One That Got Away," as well as the relatable "Her World or Mine." This time around, Ray is sharing a summer anthem, "Summer Water," off of his upcoming release Amos.

The gentle, but passionate, "Summer Water" pays homage to the role that water plays during the hot southern summers. In the song, Ray, who grew up in Florida, sings about how important going to the water was to nearly everyone in town. He tells the story of how the water seemed to help fix everything, including a broken heart. "There was magic in the summer water / Learned to swim in the summer water / All the small town sons and daughters / Were baptized a thousand times / Built fire by it like an altar / Gave it every song we could offer / Memories float on it like a bobber / Out there on the summer water." “I have so many memories from my childhood, my teenage years, even my young adult years, that all involve time spent on the water," Ray shares in a press release about the song. "That’s where you learned to fish when you were a kid, it’s the place you met up with your buddies on the weekend and even now it’s where I go with my dad to just talk about life. My grandfather did the same thing with my dad—it's generational for us and something I know I'll do with my kids down the road."

Amos, Ray's second studio album, is due out June 1 on Atlantic Records / Warner Music Nashville. The album is available for pre-order here.
