Why pay more?

Meijer knows that time is money and is compensating shoppers for a computer crash.

All shoppers save $10 on their purchase of $50 or more today or Saturday.

A network outage on February 28 had stores looking like Black Friday. All credit card readers went down, allowing groceries to be purchased with cash only.

Who carries cash anymore?

I remember being at the Gull Road Meijer that afternoon, thankfully only picking up a couple of things so I was able to whiz through one of the express lanes.

Meijer has apologized for the inconvenience on their Facebook page:

You deserve better. We’re committed to offering our customers a great experience, and that didn’t happen during a network outage in late February. Please accept our apologies and this coupon, good for $10 off your purchase of $50+, valid 3/20-3/21

Were you caught in the crowd? Will you use the coupon? Is $10 enough? Should Meijer have responded sooner?

Me, I appreciate the offer and think it is great of the store to offer an extra $10 off, but here's the thing: the savings are likely to create long lines...wasn't that the problem in the first place?

I will continue to be a Meijer shopper, but not on the weekend.

Not this weekend.

Not any weekend.

Not if I can help it.
