The Michigan Department of Transportation Southwest Region says that they are now getting ready for the winter season.

MDOT says that this year, 71 of their 83 trucks in the region will have green and amber beacons on them; these new green beacons have been rolled out over the last few years, and are shown to be easier to see in the winter.

Besides the beacons, MDOT says that salt barns are being topped off and plow blades are being reequipped. As well, once the plowing starts, citizens can track snowplow progress on their MiDrive service, including real-time cameras.
