Peek Inside the ‘Mama Cash Home’ in Hendersonville, Tenn. [PICTURES]
Just northeast of Nashville, in Hendersonville, Tenn., sits the "Mama Cash Home," the former home of Johnny Cash's parents, Ray and Carrie. Back in 2018, the 2,809-square-foot home was listed for sale, for $845,000, by owners Brian and Sally Oxley, giving fans the chance to peek inside the historic house.
According to the Tennessean, the Oxleys purchased the house, located at 185 Caudill Dr. in Hendersonville, in 2014, then renovated it to look similar to when the Cashes lived there. The property, which Johnny Cash purchased for his parents, is across the street from Cash's own former residence, which burned down in 2007.
"Johnny Cash and June spent their last months in [this] home, because his eyesight wasn't well, he was in a wheelchair and his bedroom [at his house] was on the upper floor," Brian Oxley shares. The Mama Cash Home was also the site of the recording of American V: A Hundred Highways, which was posthumously released in 2006.
A four-bedroom, three-bathroom home located on a one-acre lot, the Mama Cash Home is a ranch-style house built in 1963; its rooms all feature odd angles. A plaque near the front door shares the home's history; the house also includes an original photo of the Man in Black and his parents, as well as a grandfather clock -- a family heirloom valued at $10,000.

In 2018, the Mama Cash Home was listed, via Realtor.com, by George G. Alexander, a realtor with Crye-Leike, Inc. The home did not sell at the time, and was listed again, in April of 2020, for $1.05 million; the price dropped to $950,000, then to $849,000, before the house was removed from the market.
