Kelly Clarkson, her husband and their two children were the victims of a burglary at their home in Los Angeles.

Clarkson was in L.A. for an appearance on the 2017 Billboard Women in Music Awards on Thursday (Nov. 30), and in speaking to TV's Extra on the red carpet, the 35-year-old superstar responded to an observation about how well everything has been going for her by saying, "Other than we got robbed last night."

"Yeah, it was crazy, we got here and our whole house was like bashed in, it was crazy," she adds.

The superstar didn't offer many details of the robbery, but when asked if the thieves got anything of value, Clarkson responded, "Materialistic things we didn’t care about."

There was one thing about the burglary that concerned Clarkson and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, more than anything. "The guy was in our kid’s room… so it was a little weird," she says, adding, "other than that everyone is safe and good."

Clarkson was at the awards ceremony to receive the Powerhouse Award from Billboard. She performed "Meaning of Life," the title song of her new album, at the ceremony, and before the show, she told Billboard what the term "powerhouse" means to her.

"I guess it's someone who walks into a room and, like them or hate them, they're here!" she said with a laugh.

That could definitely describe Clarkson herself, who is open about sharing her political and social views on social media. That has led to some backlash from fans who disagree, but she tells Billboard, "I feel like, for me personally, it’s important to be involved and it's important to show my fans to be involved. You should stand for something."
