Keith Urban Overwhelmed With Triple American Music Awards Wins
Keith Urban hopped to the stage to accept Favorite Country Male at the 2017 American Music Awards on Sunday night (Nov. 19), but he was surprised with two more.
Wife Nicole Kidman was loaded up with the two extra trophies, one for Favorite Country Album (for Ripcord) and another for Favorite Country Song (for "Blue Ain't Your Color"). Urban thanked his wife, daughters, management team and the people most in need of thanks.
"To the fans you are the best in the world I love you guys more than you know," he said.
"Blue Ain't Your Color" also won the Single of the Year award at the 2017 CMAs. There Urban gave a memorable performance of his new song "Female," a song that has been adopted as an anthem for the #MeToo movement and overall gender equality. The track is from his upcoming new studio album, but he's shared very few details about that other than to say he hopes it is available in April 2018.
Sam Hunt and Thomas Rhett were the other nominees in the Favorite Male category. Hunt and Jon Pardi had songs competing in the Favorite Country Song category, and Jason Aldean and Chris Stapleton joined Urban in the album category. Urban is the only country artist among all his fellow nominees that was on hand on Sunday night (Nov. 19).
