While nothing may Compare to the water crisis in Flint. Kalamazoo has a lead problem of it's own. 

Kalamazoo has slowly replaced lead water lines since 1992. Twenty-five years later, there is still a long way to go. In light of the water problems facing Flint, Kalamazoo has sped up it's efforts to replace these lead pipes.

If you have been driving West Main over the last several months, you may have seen these construction barricades and lane closures on both sides of the road. That is because they are working their way down the road, house by house, replacing those old lead lines and then repairing the road behind them.

The good news is that they are making progress. The bad news, it's still slow going.
