Goodbye Michigan: Major Retailer Pulls the Plug on Local Stores

With the way Michigan stores are closing, malls may soon become a thing of the past unless something changes drastically...and fast.

A once-popular clothing store with nine locations in Michigan recently announced it was closing four locations after filing for bankruptcy for the second time. Well, that same company is now expecting to close all of its locations in the U.S., including the ones in Michigan.

According to CNBC, Forever 21 is set to shut down all U.S. operations and has already started liquidation sales at over 350 stores. But according to court filings, it’s still up for grabs if a buyer is willing to take on the inventory and keep things going. It doesn't sound like companies are beating down their door to get in on the action though.

Forever 21, which got its start in 1984, was once a big name in the fast-fashion game. At its peak, it had 43,000 employees and raked in over $4 billion a year in sales.
