
WARNING: New Texting Scam Hitting Michigan Drivers
Is anyone else just extremely cautious to even open links that come from your bosses nowadays? The likelihood of things being scams just keeps getting higher and higher. To the point, hackers and scammers are taking advantage of every route they can.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is warning drivers that there is a new scam that is coming to the state of Michigan. You should watch out for this one, as it's asking drivers to pay a fine that doesn't exist.

There are some next text messages going out to Michigan drivers, claiming to be the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), asking you to pay for unpaid tolls you have here in the state of Michigan.

While it may make you wonder, what tolls? There are a few toll roads and bridges here in the state of Michigan.
A text has been floating around, claiming that you owe money.
In particular:
"Toll Violation Notice:
This is your final notice regarding unpaid toll balance on your account. You must settle the balance within the next 12 hours toa void severe penalties"
MDOT took to their social media, informing Michigan drivers that they are not sending out texts to anyone regarding past due toll charges.
If you do happen to receive a message like this, MDOT is telling you to just delete it and mark it as spam.
You should never pay or put any financial information into a text that you receive asking for money, without verifying it.
