Fiesta Mexicana In Battle Creek Opening In Former Captain Louie’s Building

Last month Captain Louie’s Calabash Seafood in Battle Creek abruptly closed and already. There is a new locally owned business that will be moving into the former location at 181 E. Columbia Ave. Fiesta Mexicana Mexican Restaurant & Cantina will be opening soon in its place, and wouldn’t you know that apparently, it is not good enough for the community?

With a photo showing signage that the restaurant would be opening up soon the residents of Battle Creek took this as an opportunity to complain about “yet another Mexican restaurant.” Not to put anybody on blast but this place hasn’t even opened yet and already they’re being dragged through the mud just for being who they are with nobody having even tried their food yet. That's not to say others haven't tried it at their other locations.

This is now their third location outside of Charlotte and Jackson, and there are plenty who are excited for the new spot to open:

Captain Luey's Calabash Seafood In Battle Creek decided to close only a month ago in early June of 2023, as they said farewell to the community:

For personal reasons, Captain Luey's has permanently closed and new owners have bought the restaurant. Thank you to all of our countless guests who have visited us over the years, it was truly appreciated and a pleasure serving our cuisine to you. A new and exciting restaurant is coming to Battle Creek soon and we wish much success to the new owners in their venture. THANK YOU!

Having demand for particular restaurants isn't a bad thing, but shaming a family-owned and locally-owned business without even trying it, isn't necessarily helping the community.
