Saturday will be a showdown between the Western Michigan University Broncos and the Central Michigan Chippewa in an in-state rivalry game in Kalamazoo.

That’s why it seems almost perfect that the Western Michigan University athletics department will be teaming up with Paw Paw Brewing to release a special beer that will be available for purchase at the venue, which is modeled after Western Michigan.

This will not only be a huge game because of the rivalry, but also because the game will be available to watch on ESPNU.

The Western Michigan University Broncos released the following statement on their new pills and their beer, 1903 Gold:

Western Michigan University Athletics, in collaboration with Bronco Sports Partners and Van Wagner, is proud to announce an official brewing partnership with Paw Paw Brewing, highlighted by the launch of 1903 Gold—a crisp, refreshing pilsner specially crafted and branded for Bronco fans. 1903 Gold will be introduced in-venue for the first time at the WMU Football home game vs. Central Michigan on Saturday, November 1, and will be served across all athletic venues with alcohol sales moving forward.

Vice President and Director of Athletics Dan Bartholomae had plenty to be excited about with this announcement ahead of Saturday's rivalry game against Central Michigan:

What makes this release so special is a partnership with one of our own – a WMU Alumnus who competed on the gridiron as a member of our football program.

This Saturday will be your first chance to get your taste buds on this beer as we cheer on the Broncos.
