Michigan City Named “Best Beer City” For 5th Consecutive Year
It's been said time and time again that Michigan is one of the best places in not only the country but in the entire world to get beer. There are several cider farms, distilleries, wineries, and bars for everyone to have a seat and plenty of drinks to go around. Beer has simply just become a part of the Michigan culture and has made our state even more popular.

There are people who travel from all over the country just to come and have an experience at some of the breweries in town or to try a new beer that they have never had before. Of course, to help these people out there are always beer festivals, holidays like Oberon Day, and more promotions to encourage them to knock one back.
The cool thing about Michigan is that there is no shortage of beer, and each beer is different than the last as every brewery does things in their own way that adds to their product. With that being said, one of my favorite phrases is "just like anything else there are some that are better than others".
Beer cities are no different, there are some cities in the United States that are better for finding a good beer at a quality price than others. In fact, the best beer city in America has been the same for the past 4 years, and this year is no different. Grand Rapids has been named as the best beer city in the entire country for the 5th year in a row.
USA today has been putting out a list of the best beer cities in the United States for a few years now and Michigan has always fared well, finding multiple cities on the list in multiple years. The last 5 years have been completely dominated by Grand Rapids as they have sat at the top of the list.
Grand Rapids had dubbed themselves "Beer City, USA" after winning an informal poll that they have sat atop at since its inception in 2012. Here's what USA Today had to say about Grand Rapids taking the top spot:
Michigan’s second-largest city sports the state’s strongest beer scene, thanks largely to the presence of the world-renowned Founders Brewing Co. There are several other brewing operations around town, like Belgian-inspired Brewery Vivant. Grand Rapids' official “Beer City Ale Trail” includes a list of more than 80 breweries, and the local calendar is constantly filled with beer festivals, events, and promotions. Throw in exceptional beer stores like Siciliano’s Market, and it’s easy to see why Grand Rapids proudly stakes its claim as "Beer City USA."
