We have fallen in love with the convenience of having products we have purchased delivered to our homes. This has extended beyond large purchases like appliances and furniture as just about everything is being delivered now. While many of us find this to be useful it doesn't change how much things costs.

The world has become more expensive over the last couple of years and that won't be changing for us here in America anytime soon as the tariffs have started to be implemented which has raised the costs on many different goods. Inflation among many other factors have created an economy that is tough to live in, and everyone is looking for a helping hand.

The cost of convenience has gone up for residents in Illinois as they will now be paying extra for home deliveries. Some people have called it a "Pizza Tax" but the new bill is passed would add a $1.50 charge to anything that is delivered to a home by motor vehicle. Lawmakers have appropriately named it the "climate fee". The fees would be given to Chicago area transit and downstate public transportation in an 80/20 split.

Home Deliveries in Michigan Could Become More Expensive

The question is, if this pans out well for Illinois, how long before Michigan lawmakers are looking to do the same thing? We have already made changes to become a more clean and green state and could use the extra money to repair the roads. This wouldn't be that bad of a change considering it's not $1.50 per mile or anything crazy like that.

Also, convenience should be a little more expensive in my opinion, you're paying a little extra to have something delivered to your home rather than taking it yourself, that makes sense to me. Contrary to that thought, you could go back to how things used to be and avoid the delivery fee by going to stores and taking home items, you've purchased yourself.

I am not a fan of the climate fee, but it would make a lot of sense and could possibly benefit the state of Michigan.
