The Detroit Lions hope for the playoffs is still alive.  But it will take more than the Lions winning to make that happen.

The Atlanta Falcons just made Detroit's road to the playoffs a little bit harder with their 24-21 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday Night.

The Lions are just one game behind the 6th seed of the NFC Playoffs.  The only way possible for the Lions to grab that slot is for the Atlanta Falcons to lose their next two games against the Saints and the Panthers AND the Lions win their next two games against the Bengals and the Packers.

Since the Falcons beat the Lions in Game 3 this season, they would win a tiebreaker.

The Detroit Lions have made it to the WildCard round of the playoffs 5 times in the last 10 years but lost every time.  They made it all the way to the Conference Championship in 1991 but lost to the Redskins 41-10 according to Pro Football Reference.
