An early morning fire at a Galesburg business has rendered it a total loss.

The fire started around 3:30 am Thursday morning at the Galesburg Meat Company on Mill Street.  The fire forced nearby M-96 at 32nd street to be closed temporarily, but it was reopened after firefighters put out the blaze just before 6am.

The building has been declared a loss, and authorities say no one was inside the building.

Investigators are now looking into what caused the fire to spark.
