Sponsored by Memories Bridal & Evening Wear in partnership with Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan and Kalamazoo's Country 102.5, The Cinderella Project of Kalamazoo is an annual event that provides free prom dresses and accessories to local high school young women in need. Originally founded in 2006 as a partnership between Memories and The Junior League of Kalamazoo, each year The Cinderella Project has given away hundreds of beautiful dresses to help young girls’ prom dreams come true. Our goal is to make sure every young lady that wants to attend prom has the opportunity to do so no matter what her personal or financial hardships.
The Cinderella Project is a community wide event only made possible by the generous donations of gently used prom dresses and accessories. If you would like to clean out your closet and help make prom dreams come true, donations of dresses, jewelry, and shoes can be dropped off at Memories year-round.
This year’s event will again be held at the Girls Scouts Heart of Michigan, 601 W. Maple Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
Date: Saturday, February 18th, 2017 from 9am – 12pm.
We are an open call event meaning any high school girl that needs our services is welcome to attend. We operate on the honor system, so no proof of financial need is necessary. Please bring a valid school ID (or proof of enrollment). All girls must attend in person to receive a free dress.
Dress Drive at Morrison Jewelers
Do you have prom dresses or accessories you're looking to donate? Bring them to Morrison Jewelers on Friday, February 10 from 11 am - 1 pm.
We're in particular need of plus sized dresses so that we have more sizes available to help as many girls in need as possible.
Kalamazoo's Country 102.5 presents The Ultimate Prom Giveaway:
New this year, one lucky young woman will experience the magic of the ultimate prom night! One random entry number will be selected from those waiting in line at the Cinderella Project on February 18. We'll be on site to present the winner with the ultimate prom night package; must be present to receive prize.
Prize package will include:
- Hair up-do and makeup application at Blush Salon + Spa inside the Radisson Plaza Hotel
- Necklace from Morrison Jewelers
