Dierks Bentley Doesn’t Give a Darn in ‘You Can’t Bring Me Down’ [LISTEN]
Dierks Bentley takes the wind out of bullies' sails everywhere with his new song, "You Can't Bring Me Down." Bentley has shared the mid-tempo, feel good tune ahead of his upcoming album The Mountain. Readers can press play above to listen to the confidence-boosting lyrics, which are set to a laid-back musical backdrop.
"You can try to wrap your words like rocks around my ankles / And push me off a bridge and hope that I might drown / Any cheap shots that you've got yeah I can handle / You don't get this far without knowing how to get up off the ground." The song opens, bolstered by some stellar mandolin picking in the background from none of there than bluegrass legend Sam Bush. Along with his contributions on "You Can't Bring Me Down," Bush appears on two other songs on The Mountain. Set to Bentley's empowering lyrics, the chorus plays out like a rousing, optimistic anthem.
"So I turn up a cold one / And I turn up the volume / On life, on love, on the way I feel right now / Yeah I've learned how to let go / And how to take the high road / I'm on another level / And you can't bring me down."
The Mountain is slotted for release on June 8. It is available for pre-order, with a few instant downloads, now. Bentley's 2018 Mountain High Tour, which will feature opening performances from Lanco and the Brothers Osborne, kicks off on May 17 in Columbia, Md.
