Palace Sports and Entertainment, owners of (obviously) The Palace and Clarkston's DTE Energy Music Theatre have announced plans to add metal detectors to the outdoor concert venue.

MLive reports "the addition [of metal detectors] is being touted as a streamlining of the check-in process, not a reaction to security fears." Concert goers should, however, plan for extra time to get through security before staking out their spot on the hill or taking their seats in the pavilion.

Metal detectors were added to The Palace of Auburn Hills prior to the start of this year's NBA season and no plans have yet been announced to add them at Meadowbrook or Freedom Hill Amphitheatres, both managed by Palace Sports and Entertainment.
