Joe Nichols' cover of Sir Mix-a-Lot's '90s hit "Baby Got Back" is unique, but certainly not the first time a country star has waded into the world or rap or hip-hop for inspiration.

Rarely do the covers end up on albums, as "Baby Got Back" did, on Nichols' Never Gets Old album. These five country music covers of hip-hop songs all started during live performances, and in the best cases took on a life of their own on YouTube. Kacey Musgraves, Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan and Dustin Lynch are among the singers who've slowed a show down to kick it old-school.

Of course, this list is hardly a complete one. Taylor Swift covering Eminem? It happened. A country cover of "Uptown Funk"? You couldn't find a concert in America where that didn't happen in 2016. The perfect cover song can make or break a live show, and these artists went big. Love 'em or hate 'em, you have to give these folks props for trying something new!

It was Nichols' new cover that inspired this conversation. His music video for "Baby Got Back" features Sir Mix-a-Lot, and it's hilarious. No one else has gone as all-in as this country veteran, and it's paying off. Across 24 hours the video racked up more than a million views!
