Michigan State Police will be out in force this holiday weekend looking for drivers who are not buckled up.

The roads are busy with holiday weekend travelers and Michigan State Police have announced additional patrols looking for seat belt violations.

In other words, click it or ticket.

Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) is also a priority for police Memorial Day weekend.

As part of Operation C.A.R.E. and the statewide Click It or Ticket safety belt enforcement campaign, troopers will take a zero-tolerance approach to unbuckled motorists. In addition to looking for safety belt and child restraint violations, troopers will pay special attention to drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and drugs or are driving in a reckless and unsafe manner.

The official Memorial Day weekend begins at 6 p.m., on Friday, May 27, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2016. Last year, six fatal traffic crashes resulted in eight deaths over the Memorial Day weekend.
