Chris Young isn't done helping Texas. After giving $100,000 and setting up a GoFundMe to raise $500,000 more for people who lost everything in Hurricane Harvey, the singer acknowledges that there's still more to do.

“I just wanted to do something, at least to get a jump on it,” Young told reporters on Tuesday (Aug. 29) about his initial pledge. “I’ve got other things I’m already working on with radio, and a lot of other things that are going to take time to actually get going. But being able to give to people a place to donate, and push them towards it, is something that I wanted to do and wanted to get out in front of."

The storm hit close to home for Young, who has a house in Texas that may have succumbed to the storm. The Nashville native relocated to Texas before signing his record deal, and he still has family and friends living in the areas hit hard by the hurricane. However, the "Losing Sleep" singer says knowing the status of his home is the least of his worries.

“I have no idea what it looks like, and in the best way possible, I don’t really care, because I’m worried about the people,” Young shares. “Everybody else is okay, that I know, and all of my friends and family are accounted for, and that’s the most important thing.”

So far, Young's GoFundMe page has raised $312,545 of its $500K goal. The singer says he's humbled by the generosity of people who have contributed.

“It’s been unbelievable seeing the generosity and the humanity and compassion that people have shown for other people in need. It’s pretty incredible, just watching it.”

Hurricane Harvey was a Category 4 storm when it made landfall in Rockport, Port Aransas and Houston on Friday (Aug. 25). Rain continues to batter the area, and the death toll has risen to more than 20, according to the New York Times.
